April 2026 residency/retreat

Sunday April 19th to Friday April 26th, 2026.

Join in for an immersive week of self-directed experimentation in community. Artists in residence are encouraged to delve into new techniques or mediums, and we are looking for folks willing to share their process, whether it is newly acquired or it’s your go-to approach to art-making. Hone in on a new skill, everything is welcome from cyanotypes, to bookbinding, to printmaking, to image transfer, to locative collage, to animation, to sculpture, to writing, to painting, to comics, to surrealist techniques and everything in between.

Sou’wester Lodge and Vintage Travel Trailer Resort is a hodgepodge of accommodation types, featuring over 30 vintage travel trailers, charming cabins, spacious lodge suites, and RV/campsites in historic Seaview, Washington. Situated just blocks from the beach and the Discovery Trail, and only 15 miles from Astoria, Oregon, the location is perfect for exploring the rich history, natural beauty, and lush bounty of the evergreen coast. We will have a shared workspace within the pavilion from 9am-9pm, and the red bus will be available for one night as a microcinema movie theater that doubles as a karaoke party bus.

Step one: Book accommodations at a discounted rate at the link here, and feel free to add on extra days before or after the designated dates. Dogs are welcome in certain accommodations but not in the lodge suites. The pavilion will be available 9am-9pm for people to work at shared tables.

Step two: fill out this form.

A nominal fee of around $50 per participant will be due closer to the date for rental of the pavilion.
